Coming to the Gardens this Spring: Canberra Art Biennial

This Spring we look forward to welcoming the 6th edition of the Canberra Art Biennial to the Gardens. 

The Capital's own contemporary public art festival, Canberra Art Biennial presents artwork that responds to stories and histories within the designed landscape of Canberra.

Slow Assembly

Slow Assembly brings the works of contemporary artists Anna May Kirk, Jacqueline Bradley and Rosalind Lemoh to the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Using glass, bronze and wood, these small-scale sculptural works merge the organic and industrial through casting and assemblage.

This exhibition speaks to the co-dependent relationships between humans and plants and memory and regeneration. The act of collaboration is infused in the objects and thoughts gathered from walks through living collections of bush land and garden.

Slow Assembly proposes a gradual state of becoming. These fragile structures and sculptural forms are guided by balance and rhythm, offering new ways to think about relationships across time and place.
