In the moment

In the moment is the first solo exhibition of artist/biologist Sophie ‘art’ Baker.

Sophie paints Australian landscapes ‘en plein air,’ literally in the open air, capturing an impression of the bush in the moment.  

Cherishing the ancient and gnarled beauty in Australian bushland, Sophie paints the light, flora, fauna and weather, as she observes the bush, moment to moment.  

Sophie’s paintings on paper or canvas, with acrylic paint, and sometimes a touch of beach sand, are travel widely across Australia from the Brindabella Mountains to Queensland’s crocodile country.  

Some of the works also include her family on holiday in a variety of intrepid and treasured moments. 

Australia’s wilderness is incredibly resilient but increasingly vulnerable. Sophie attempts to paint this wildness, in the moment.
