Budding botanist: adaptations (years 5 - 6)
What do plants need to survive? What special tricks do plants use to grow and survive in different environments?
In this program your students will:
- wonder at plants growing in different environments, what do they need to survive? What adaptations do they have?
- discover seed, roots, stem, leaves, flowers and fruit and the adaptations they display.
- learn how plants needs different conditions to complete a life cycle through a movement activity.
- explore a variety of fruit, flowers, leaves and seeds under microscopes.
You’ll also learn about the Australian National Botanic Gardens’ role in conserving threatened plant species.
Note: your students will be encouraged to touch plants, please let us know if you would not like this to occur.
